Volume 3, Number 3                September 2008

Welcome <$firstname$>,

It probably feels like ages since you've heard from me. And you're right, it has been.

A lot has happened over the last six months. Arvee and I had a wonderfully successful Speak Your Way to Wealth in August, I've developed several new programs, and I've developed a new speech for seminar presentations.

But most importantly, I've had one of the most powerful success formulas I know reinforced time and time again.

One of the biggest questions people ask is, "How do I actually create success in my business?" I could point to thousands of successful businesses and many more thousands of failures and and if we had forever, we could figure out what each one did or didn't do that made the difference. And we might come up with a hundred or a thousand reasons for success or failure.

For me, it is a simple formula and it has worked every time I have fully applied it.

First, settle on one major project. Don't try to do ten different things at once. Focus on one. Choose that one carefully and put everything else aside.

Second, set a vision of success for that project. Know what you want to have happen and believe in it with your whole heart and mind. Let nothing deter you from making it happen.

Third, take massive action. Do something every day on your project. Set a schedule for completion. Do your best with every action you take. Set your goals high.

Fourth, whatever happens, treat it as a learning experience. Analyze what went right and do more of that. Figure out what didn't work so well and do a lot less of that. Then move on to the next project.

I've created all my books and CDs, my speeches, seminars and other programs using this formula. It works for me and it can work for you as well.

New Publishing Programs

If you haven't done so in a while, take a look at my newly redesigned web site, www.leepound.com. There you will see the new programs I've spent the summer developing.

The entry level program is my new Solutions Press Protégé Program. I will host a one hour teleseminar once a week with all the members of the program. We will cover topics related to writing skills, books, book publishing and speaking to sell your products. For the first half hour, I will cover a major topic. For the second half hour, I will answer questions and give coaching to callers. All the calls will be recorded and made available to members on a protected web site. It is $697 per year for 52 calls and personal attention on those calls from me. Just click on Step One on my web site.

My advanced program is the Solutions Press Publishing Program. You must apply to get into this program because I take only serious people who want to write and publish their books. Once you join, you are guaranteed publication but you have to do the work and make a personal commitment to make that happen. I still have a few spots open for 2009 so if you are interested email me or call me.

Starting Your Book

One of the most common questions I get is, "How do I start my book?"

The most common answer is too simple for most people. Just sit down at the typewriter or computer and write. Put one word after another and soon they will start to make sense. This is the "see what happens" approach and does not work for most people.

Here are the main steps you need to take to start writing your book:

  • Choose your topic carefully. Make it something you care about, want to share with the world, or have strong expertise in.

  • Narrow your topic. When you don't do this, you end up writing a general book with no new insights. Take a small area and give your reader your best insights.

  • Know what your reader wants when he or she picks up your book and start there.

  • Decide what you want the reader to know when he or she is finished reading. What is your call to action? What will your reader know at the end that he or she does not know at the beginning.

  • Outline your book. Choose the 10 or 12 topics you want the reader to understand. Insert them in the outline in logical order from beginning to end. Decide what examples and stories to use to illustrate each chapter.

  • Start writing. Now you know where you are going, you know what your readers need and will get out of your book, you have a guideline for what you will put in the book, and you can write with confidence that it will all make sense.
